Community Services Officer (CSO)


The Community Service Officer performs a variety of functions which support  law enforcement and code enforcement for the City of South Lake Tahoe. The Community Service Officer division is made up of a Supervisor, secretary and three Community Service Officers.

 

Community Service Officers provide direct support to patrol officers with duties that include:

 

 

• Assisting in traffic control

 

• Parking enforcement

 

• Taking reports for crimes with no initial suspect information.

 

Community Service Officers manage the programs such as taxi service, massage therapy and mobile vending operations operating within the city limits of South Lake Tahoe.

 

The Community Service Officer plays a significant role in the City code enforcement efforts. They identify, process and cause to be destroyed over 600 vehicles abandoned in the city each year. With South Lake Tahoe being a significant tourist destination the appearance of the city is most important  Community Service Offices are responsible for the abatement program ensuring that properties are maintained in an aesthetically favorable condition. Along with the support of a tourist friendly community the Community Service Officers manage the vacation rental program ensuring a pleasant and memorable stay for both visitors and local residents.

 

The Community Service Officer position provides a vital service to the city of South Lake Tahoe as well as challenging career to the individual
